UPDATE: I have moved the starting point of this hike to a parking area off of Ogg Rd. From here, we will walk down the access road to a dirt trail that meets with the paved trail at a scenic overlook, hike the loop and come back to the scenic overlook then back to Ogg Rd Parking. Tomscaching and I hiked this route today (2/26). It took us an hour and a half. My fitness tracker showed 4.3 miles round trip.
If this area is closed because of wet trails, we will have to use the parking area at the boat launch area. From there we would hike the paved trail west to the gravel road that goes past the scout camps. It connects back to the paved trails. Hike up the hill and around the loop and back to the gravel road. This hike is a little longer than the others. If the gravel road is closed, we will stay on the paved trail all the way around. That will be the longest hike.
I have enjoyed the hikes Dr. Powercat has hosted. So I thought I'd do one of my own. Let's take a hike on a trail in Shawnee Mission Park. The upper trail is fairly steep. The lower trail is mostly level, with some small hills.
