IRT - Inland Rail Trail Series
The Inland Rail Trail is a proposed 21-mile Class I bikeway that passes through the cities of Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, and Escondido. A Class I bikeway is a bike path that is physically separated from motor vehicle traffic and from the adjacent railway.
The Inland Rail Trail runs alongside the Sprinter light rail service connecting Escondido to Oceanside. The 6.5-mile section in Escondido and San Marcos is the first segment complete, with a 7-mile continuation through San Marcos and Vista currently under construction.
This is a great trail for biking, scootering, skate-boarding, jogging or walking. We hope this series of caches will encourage you to come out and explore the trail yourself.
IRT Stumped is located near a huge stump along the trail.
