MAGARB. Inaugurado em Maio de 1992 pelo Primeiro-Ministro Cavaco Silva, o matadouro do Algarve funcionou durante cerca de 15 anos. Em Junho de 2007, Autoridade de Segurança Alimentar e Económica (ASAE) mandou fechar as portas. “Teias de aranha, ferrugem, paredes conspurcadas, pavimento do chão inadequado para a função, e pessoal com vestuário sujo” ameaçavam dar um sabor desagradável às salsichas, à banha de porco, fiambres e bacon made-in-Algarve. Seguiu-se a insolvência. O abandono. As visitas dos ladrões. Dos vândalos. Dos pirómanos e dos artistas do graffiti. Algumas paredes ainda estão de pé. Escaparam ao fogo em 2011 e ao saque, já que tudo o que havia para roubar foi roubado. Tudo o que havia para partir foi partido.
MAGARB. It was inaugurated in May of 1992 by the Prime Minister Cavaco Silva. The slaughterhouse worked during 15 years and in June of 2007 the Autority of economy and food safety (ASAE) ordered the closure due to lack of healt conditions. "Spyder webs, rust, dirty walls, inadequated floor cover for the activity, and personal with dirty clothing" threatened to give bad flavour to the sausages, to the lard, to the hams, to the bacons all made-in-Algare. Then it was followed by theinsolvency, the abandon, the thefts, the vandals, the pyromans and the graffiti artists. Some walls are still standing. They escaped from the fire in 2011 and the constant robberies. Everything that had economic value it was stollen. Everythinh that was standing was broken.
