Výstaviště vzniklo v roce 1891 při příležitosti Jubilejní zemské výstavy jako upomínka 100. výročí první průmyslové výstavy z r. 1791. Stala se přehlídkou kulturní a hospodářské vyspělosti českého národa. Během jejího konání (od 15. května do 18. října) navštívilo výstaviště přibližně 2,5 milionu lidí. Veškeré výstavní budovy byly postaveny v rekordním čase jednoho roku. Návštěvníci měli možnost se seznámit s průmyslovou, zemědělskou, lesnickou, ale i společenskou a kulturní stránkou života v Čechách. Dnes se zde na celkové ploše 36 hektarů ročně konají desítky výstavních projektů a veletrhů a také řada kulturních a zábavních akcí.

The exhibition centre was established in 1891 on the occasion of the Jubilee Provincial Exhibition as a reminder of the 100th anniversary of the first industrial exhibition in 1791. It became a showcase of the cultural and economic development of the Czech nation. During its holding (from May 15 to October 18), approximately 2.5 million people visited the exhibition centre. All exhibition buildings were built in record time of one year. Visitors had the opportunity to get acquainted with the industrial, agricultural, forestry, as well as social and cultural aspects of life in the Czech Republic. Today, dozens of exhibition projects and fairs, as well as a number of cultural and entertainment events, take place here on a total area of 36 hectares a year.

[CZ] Budova byla postavena pro Jubilejní výstavu v roce 1891 a obsahuje největší státní veřejně přístupnou historickou sbírku kamenosochařství a architektonické plastiky v Česku. Sbírka celkem obsahuje přes 3000 předmětů, převážně z kamene. Z nich je kolem 600 exemplářů vystaveno a ostatní deponovány ve třech depozitářích přilehlých k expozici. V roce 1995 v mezinárodní soutěži bylo Lapidárium zařazeno mezi deset nejkrásnějších muzejních expozic v Evropě.

[EN] The building was built for the Jubilee Exhibition in 1891 and contains the largest state publicly accessible historical collection of stone sculptures and architectural sculptures in the Czech Republic. The collection contains over 3000 items, mostly made of stone. About 600 of them are on display and the others are deposited in three depositories adjacent to the exhibition. [CZ] Průmyslový palác je krásná secesní stavba a také největší dominanta areálu Výstaviště Praha. Slavnostně byl otevřen v roce 1891 a pochází z dílny architektů Bedřicha Münzbergera a Františka Prášila. Je kulturní i technickou památkou. Je rozdělen na 3 samostatné části – Střední halu, Pravé křídlo a Levé křídlo, které vyhořelo v roce 2008 na jehož místě je v současnosti postavena mobilní hala. Palác na délku měří 238 metrů a jeho centrální věž dosahuje do výše 51 metrů.

[EN] The Industrial Palace is a beautiful Art Nouveau building and also the largest landmark of the Prague Exhibition Grounds. It was ceremoniously opened in 1891 and comes from the workshop of architects Bedřich Münzberger and František Prášil. It is a cultural and technical monument. It is divided into 3 separate parts - the Middle Hall, the Right Wing and the Left Wing, which burned down in 2008 and was temporarily replaced by a mobile hall. The palace is 238 meters long and its central tower reaches a height of 51 meters.

[CZ] Budova byla postavena u příležitosti konání Všeobecné výstavy v roce 1991. Je postavena z ocelové konstrukce, její základna měří téměř 50 metrů a celková výška budovy přesahuje 40 metrů. V roce 2002 se ani ocelové pyramidě nevyhnula ničivá povodeň, jež zasáhla takřka celé území Prahy. Následovala nákladná rekonstrukce stavby, tentokrát již pod novým názvem Goja Music Hall. Původní divadlo se proměnilo na nový a zcela moderní prostor. V současné době nabízí kapacitu 864 míst. Nechybí zde možnost občerstvení, které zajišťuje několik barů. Pyramida díky svému tvaru nabízí divákům nezapomenutelný prožitek z představení. Pravidelně se zde konají muzikálová i divadelní představení, taneční a hudební festivaly, multimediální show, módní přehlídky a další kulturní akce.

[EN] The building was built on the occasion of the General Exhibition in 1991. It is built of steel, its base measures almost 50 meters and the total height of the building exceeds 40 meters. In 2002, even the steel pyramid did not escape the devastating flood that affected almost the entire territory of Prague. This was followed by an expensive reconstruction of the building, this time under the new name Goja Music Hall. The original theater was transformed into a new and completely modern space. It currently offers a capacity of 864 seats. There is also the possibility of refreshments, which is provided by several bars. Thanks to its shape, the pyramid offers the audience an unforgettable experience of the performance. Musical and theater performances, dance and music festivals, multimedia shows, fashion shows and other cultural events take place here regularly.

4) Divadlo Spirála N50 06.491 E14 25.848

[CZ] Divadlo Spirála vzniklo v roce 1991 přestavbou bývalého panoramatického Kruhového kina. V roce 1993 byl objekt oceněn prestižní cenou Grand Prix Obce architektů v kategorii Rekonstrukce. Název divadla byl odvozen od spirálové rampy, která představuje nosný prvek celého interiéru. Návštěvníci se na svá sedadla dostávali právě pomocí navzájem se prolínajících spirálových ramp, které kolem dokola obepínají jeviště. Kapacita hlediště byla úctyhodných 800 míst. Bohužel v roce 2002 se mu nevyhnuly ničivé povodně a od té doby chátrá. Velkolepá rekonstrukce za cca 217 mil. Kč měla být zahájena v roce 2020. V roce 1994 zde byl uveden poprvé v ČR muzikál Jesus Christ Superstar, který se tu hrál až do roku 1998 a zhlédlo ho tu na 800 tisíc diváků. Dále se tu hrály např. představení Evita, Romeo a Julie či Brouci (Evangelium podle Beatles).

[EN] The Spiral Theatre was established in 1991 by rebuilding the former panoramic Round Cinema. In 1993, the building was awarded the prestigious Grand Prix of the Community of Architects in the Reconstruction category. The name of the theater was derived from the spiral ramp, which represents the supporting element of the entire interior. Visitors got into their seats by means of intertwining spiral ramps, which surround the stage all around. The capacity of the auditorium was a respectable 800 seats. Unfortunately, in 2002, it did not escape devastating floods and has been falling into disrepair ever since. A spectacular reconstruction worth approximately CZK 217 million was to begin in 2020. In 1994, the musical Jesus Christ Superstar was performed here for the first time in the Czech Republic, which was played here until 1998 and was seen by 800,000 spectators. There were also performances such as Evita, Romeo and Juliet and Beetles (Gospel according to the Beatles).

5) Křižíkova světelná fontána N50 06.454 E014 25.788

[CZ] Fontána byla navržena slavným českým elektrotechnikem Františkem Křižíkem a poprvé se rozsvítila 24. května 1891 u příležitosti Jubilejní zemské výstavy. Velkou rekonstrukcí prošla fontána v souvislosti s přestavbou Výstaviště pro Všeobecnou československou výstavu konanou v roce 1991. Kolem fontány vznikl amfiteátr pro více než 6 000 diváků. Dnes je na dně vodní plochy nainstalováno přes 1300 různobarevných světelných zařízení, díky kterým je zážitek ze hry takřka nepopsatelný. To vše za doprovodu 3 000 trysek vody. Nezapomenutelnou podívanou dokresluje i promítání obrazu na vodní clonu, filmová projekce na vodní plochu a samozřejmostí jsou i dech beroucí laserové efekty. Mimo konání akcí, je objekt přístupný veřejnosti bez omezení.

[EN] The fountain was designed by the famous Czech electrical engineer František Křižík and was first lit on May 24, 1891 on the occasion of the Jubilee Provincial Exhibition. The fountain underwent a major reconstruction in connection with the reconstruction of the Exhibition Grounds for the General Czechoslovak Exhibition held in 1991. An amphitheater for more than 6,000 spectators was built around the fountain. Today, over 1,300 multi-coloured lighting devices are installed at the bottom of the water surface, thanks to which the gaming experience is almost indescribable. All accompanied by 3,000 jets of water. An unforgettable spectacle is completed by the projection of the image on the water curtain, a film projection on the water surface and, of course, breathtaking laser effects. Outside the events, the building is open to the public without restrictions.
