I visited Sideling Creek recently for a 'yak and a few caches. The natural beauty really struck me - there are huge old trees, lots of greenery, and a lovely creek. Sadly, the area is full of rubbish, and well and truly in need of a CITO. The image highlights the section of Sideling Creek in need of a clean-up.
Please BYO rubbish bags and gloves. Be sunsafe - I recommend a hat, appropriate clothing, sunscreen and a water bottle. There are no amenities at Sideling Creek so please consider your needs before the event.
This is an all-abilities CITO and your mode of transport is up to you:
- There is a concrete path along the road with a pram and wheelchair friendly terrain (T1) . The posted coordinates are a T1.
- There is gently sloping grassland (T1.5-2).
- There is a steep riverbank for those confident on their feet (T2.5-3.5).
- Those who prefer to float are free to do so and may be able to pick up some of the harder to reach rubbish via yak (T5).
The SEQ geocaching community is a tolerant, accepting and welcoming community. If you've never been to an event before, or don't know many other geocachers, reach out via message before the event and I'll make sure to look for you and introduce you to the locals!
