WHO: Everyone is invited
WHAT: CITO Event to remove some invasive plants.
WHERE: Trout Lake Nature Center
WHY: To give back to a geocaching friendly organization. AND earn the 2nd CITO Souvenir for 2020.
WHEN: Saturday, November 21, 2020. 9:15 to 11:15 am.
The Trout Lake Nature Center has been a friend to geocaching since back when I started geocaching in 2014, so I think it only fitting that we take some time to show that we are thankful for their trust and consideration of the geocaching community over the years.
I recently visited the trails and noticed that Caesarweed was abundant and so having this event immediately came to mind. While speaking to the manager about doing this, she was delighted to hear that our community would take an interest in doing a project like this, and gave her quick approval. I'm certain there will be other invasive plants we can collect as well.
I will provide trash bags for the disposal of the plants and trash collected, and we can place them in the dumpster at the Center.
You should bring your gloves, boots, plant clippers, trash grabbers, bug spray, water, snacks, and any other safety or protective items you prefer to use, and dress accordingly. You do not need to stay the entire 2 hours, as any help you provide will be much appreciated.
As is now the custom, you will be expected to do your part as needed to protect others and yourself from COVID-19 and it's spread. Bring your own mask, and hand sanitizer, as I will not be providing any to attendees.
I look forward to seeing many of you for the first time in a long while, or better yet... for the first time..! Fresh air and exercise helps build your strength and immunity, so this should be a win / win situation for all. See you there. Come get your event smiley and a souvenir, and leave the park in better shape than when we got there.
