About SideTracked Caches:
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found on the SideTracked Series website at www.sidetrackedseries.info

Virginia Water railway station serves the village of Virginia Water, in Surrey, England. It is 23 miles 15 chains (37.3 km) down the line from London Waterloo. The Waterloo to Reading and the Chertsy Branch line join here.

The line from Staines to Ascot including this station, was opened by the London and South Western Railway on 4 June 1856; the section to Weybridge opened on 1 October 1866. Formerly a chord south of the station connected the Chertsey and Reading lines.

The station received a new station building in 1973 by British Rail. The station had until 2017 a bridge between the platforms at the north end of the station, making disabled access to platforms 2-4 very difficult. In 2017 a new bridge opened just south of the station building, incorporating lifts. All platforms are now accessible for wheel-chairs.
