War Memorial #1284 ~ Dewsbury War Memorial
The (old) Dewsbury War Memorial is located in Crow Nest Park, Heckmondwike Road, Dewsbury. This particular memorial was unveiled in September 1924, and rededicated in May 2012.
This War Memorial is a round tower with internal vault and piers supporting a capitol. In the centre is a tripod candle holder. There is a doorway on one side of the memorial with a decorative grille. The whole stands on a large paved base with three steps leading up to it.
The names of those killed in the First World War are commemorated on marble plaques set around the sides of the tower. The names of those killed in the Second World War are on tablets placed on a low wall on either side of the base.
1070 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, and 216 in the Second World War.

A = On the opposite side of the memorial to the door there is a dedication; how many words are in the third line?
B = The number of battlefields inscribed around the capitol.
C = The number of wreaths above the door.
D = The number of letters in the battlefield inscribed on the capitol between MARNE and YPRES.
E = Above the door, four words are written; subtract the number of letters in the third word from the number of letters in the second word.
F = The number of plaques on the long, low wall, to the left of the main memorial.
