This is the second part of our tour of Llanbedrog (see Llanbedrog #1 to #5 for info). It can be added to the first series to make a longer circular walk of about 6 miles in total. For details about the area and parking suggestions see Llanbedrog #1 Glyn Y Weddw (GC8EFM6). Although this series is only about 4 miles long, it's not for the faint hearted or weak legged as it involves quite a bit of climbing and descending. It can also be very wet and boggy on the headland after rain. It takes you into what was once the centre of the village, with butcher, hairdresser, fishmonger, post office, newsagent etc, until modern shopping habits closed them down leaving just the minimarket and pharmacy.
Continuing the walk from Llanbedrog #10 follow the path around the headland and enjoy the amazing views. There is a path to the left (at N 52o 50.857 W004 o 28.424) which will take you up to the trig point where there is an information display of the mountains you can see on a clear day. We had hoped to place caches on the headland itself but could not contact the landowner(s) for permission so there is a longer gap to Llanbedrog #11. If you don’t detour, continue around the headland, take a moment to look at the statue (on RHS overlooking Llanbedrog beach) and possibly do the nearby cache GCVJ7H “Tin man”.
After passing the statue go down some steps to the point where there the path splits and there are steps ahead of you going up and down. Take the steps to the left, going back up a few steps and then around the headland on a flat(ish) path. You will reach a point where you have to go down some steps and will see an information board ahead of you further down the steps. There is a path to the left, take this. Be careful because there are 2 paths to the left, but you want the higher one. If you reach the information board you have gone too far. This path takes you on one of paths through the Plas Glyn Y Weddw woodland.
