Viel sieht man hier vom Danewerk nicht mehr. Man kann aber ahnen, wozu es diente, nämlich den Weg nach Hollingstedt zu sichern, wo ein kleiner Hafen war. Dort konnten Waren aus der Nordsee kommend entladen und auf dem Landweg zur Wikingerstadt Haithabu gebracht werden.
You don't see much of the Danewerk anymore but you may guess, what is was built for. I secured the trail to Hollingstedt, where there was a small harbour. Here goods coming from the North Sea could be unloaded and brought overland to the Viking city of Haithabu.
