Bonjour, voici la 2ème cache de cette série qui retrace les lieux de mon enfance :

Histoire de ce lieu:

Tout est écrit sur le panneau devant la chapelle:

/!\ Attention les voisins sont curieux !

History of this place:

Everything is written on the sign in front of the chapel:

Translation:

At the foot of this obelisk lie Jacques COLLARD (1758-1838) lord and mayor of Villers-Hélon, member of the legislative body, and his wife Herminie COMPTON (1775-1822), both grandparents of Marie CAPPELLE (1816-1852). Orphaned at a young age, Marie was brought up in this village to which she has always remained attached. She is presumed guilty of having poisoned her husband Charles Lafarge "The Lafarge affair" fascinated France around 1840 and remains controversial. This funeral chapel was built in 1850-51, at the back of the castle's park. It received the remains of five members of the COLLARD family. Monument seriously damaged during the allied offensive of July 1918. From her prison in Tulle, Marie LAFARGE had asked to be buried here: "I want to return dead to Villers-Hélon." Since her death, she rests in Ornolac-Ussat-les-Bains, in Ariège. "Was she guilty or not? It's now a matter between her judges and God" (Alexandre Dumas)
