This Victorian park was created between 1852 and 1855 by Sir Joseph Paxton's Crystal Palace Company as a home for the Crystal Palace which had been created for the Great Exhibition in Hyde Park in 1851. The relocated and enlarged Palace was placed at the top of Sydenham Hill where it afforded amazing views across London and could be seen from a great distance away.
It was an impressive park whose aims were to educate and entertain visitors. The main educational themes for the park were discovery and invention. The geological illustrations and the full scale models of the dinosaurs were pioneering and the technical engineering of the Palace itself was sophisticated. Visitor numbers increased with the introduction of events and sports.
Unfortunately the palace was destroyed by fire in 1936 and the park began to fall in to disprepair. In 1937 a motor racing circuit was opened and this lasted until 1972. In the 1960s the National Sports Centre was built. The London Borough of Bromley took over the running in 1986 and since the turn of the century have been carrying out restoration work.

Don't head to the given coordinates. The first zone is The Maze so you should make your way there. Suggested parking is in the Sydenham Avenue car park. Parking is free.
This Wherigo will take you to 6 different areas of the park where you will need to answer a question. All questions are multiple choice. Don't worry if you answer incorrectly, you can just try again. After visiting the 6 zones the location of the final cache will be revealed. Zones 1 & 2 and 2 & 3 are quite far apart but the rest are all close together. The cache is not far from Zone 6. It should take approximately an hour to complete. There are lots of other caches in the park which you will be able to look for whilst doing this Wherigo.
