The John Jay Homestead State Historic Site, very much is a bridge to the past. The main house was the retirement home of John Jay, arguably the most important Founding Father born in New York. After his death in 1829, the property passed through four more generations of the Jay family before it was acquired by the state in 1959.  Today, the historic site comprises the main house, several outbuildings--many of them date back to John Jay's time--and 62 acres of what was once a 750 acre farm.

You may be sharing the walk to this cache with horses.  Please remember that horses are bigger than you...and watch where you step.  Also, the trail near the cache can be muddy.  Appropriate footwear is recommended (no flip flops).
