Kāpnes kādreiz bija daudz garākas, jo, Pērses ieleja vēl nebija applūdusi Pļaviņu HES būvniecības dēļ. Bija jāveic garāks ceļš, lai droši nokāptu pa tajā laikā lielo klinti. Pēc appludināšanas līdz mūsdienām tās parkā ātri tika aizmirstas un neviens neuzdrošinājās pa tām kāpt lejā, jo tās nebija labā stāvoklī, drīzāk varētu paslīdēt un nokrist līdz lejai. Pavisam nesen kā piemineklis Kokneses labākajiem laikiem, tās ir atjaunotas. Pats slēpnis atrodas putnu būrī nedaudz tālāk no kāpnēm, lai pasargātu to no svešām acīm. Konteineris satur logbuku, zīmuli un asināmo.

The stairs used to be much longer because the valley of Perse was not yet flooded due to a hydropower plant being built in the city of Aizkraukle. The trip to get down was much longer because the cliff was much taller in those times. After the flooding these stairs quickly became a forgotten thing in the park and no one dared to go down them because the condition had gotten way worse, it was more likely that you'd trip and fall all the way to the bottom. Just recently as a reminder of Koknese's better times, they have been renovated. The cache itself is in a birdhouse away from muggly eyes. The cache holds a logbook, a pencil and a sharpener
