Geocache Description:

01 July 2020, 09:00 - 09:30

So you've been considering my geotrail (Historic Glen Haven GeoTrail) and want to pick up another local geocoin, but a couple of those caches sure do look a long way off. Last year, I decided to help some of you get started. I led a hike up to the old sawmill on Miller Fork Creek, and despite a wet start, we had a good time once the sun came out.

This time we're heading up nearby Triangle Mountain. While the mountain itself doesn't contain any artifacts, it offers a spectacular view of Glen Haven. The rock formation at the top is a well-known local landmark: North Rock (so named because it's north of the town).

The event will be from 9:00 - 9:30 at the summit. How you get there is up to you, but if you'd like to join me, I will be at the parking coords at 7:30 am. It's typically only an hour-long hike up to the top, but the first half is quite steep, so I'm leaving room for how out-of-shape we all are after the lockdown. You can also bring Fido, if you like, but there's likely to be cheatgrass.

Put on your hiking boots, relearn how to use a real GPS (no cell service in Glen Haven), and come for some lovely views from the top. We'll take it slow and when we get back down, you'll have another code on the geotrail!
