Fêtons les 20 ans du géocaching !
La première cache localisée par GPS et documentée fut placée le 3 mai 2000 par Dave Ulmer, originaire de Beavercreek, dans l'Oregon. Ce type de chasse au trésor était à l'origine appelée par ses premiers participants GPS stash hunt, ou gpsstashing. Après une discussion, Matt Stum suggéra « géocaching » à la place de stash (en français : butin ou planque) qui pouvait avoir des connotations négatives.
Depuis mai 2000, le concept a pris une envergure mondiale et des millions de caches existent à travers le monde.
J’ai eu la chance de recevoir un des « Evènements Célébration de la Communauté », je vous propose donc de nous retrouver à Gardouch.
Gardouch
Sur le plan historique et culturel, Gardouch fait partie du Lauragais, occupant une vaste zone, autour de l’axe central que constitue le canal du Midi, entre les agglomérations de Toulouse au nord-ouest et Carcassonne au sud-est et celles de Castres au nord-est et Pamiers au sud-ouest. C'est l'ancien « Pays de Cocagne », lié à la fois à la culture du pastel et à l’abondance des productions, et de « grenier à blé du Languedoc ».
À l'époque féodale, Gardouch, comme les autres villages situés de part et d'autre du sillon lauragais, avait un rôle défensif, c'était un castrum. Le castrum de Gardog se composait de trois forts. Sur la colline du Pech de Gardog, le castellum protégeait le village de Gardog (déformé en Gardouch) Au pied du Pech, le « fort du Bas » se composait de deux tours entourant un bastion défensif, le tout protégé par un fossé. Le « fort Supra » à Ornolac complétait le dispositif.
Pendant la guerre de Cent Ans, le château fort (le castellum) fut détruit par le Prince Noir. Le comte de Toulouse, Raimond VII, le fit remettre en état.
À l'époque du Pastel, le village s'étale au bas de la colline le long de la Côte Pavée et de la rue de la République actuelles.
Les avantages liés au creusement du canal de Riquet au xviie siècle viennent réparer les désastres causés par les guerres de religion. Du port des Agals, grains, pailles et fourrages partaient vers le Pays-Bas tandis que remontaient pierres, graviers et vins.

ü Déjeuner : Pique-nique partagé (n'oubliez pas de préciser ce que vous apportez). Il ya des tables et des bancs sur le lieu de l'event.
ü Echange et partage de TB’s.
ü Photo de groupe pour souffler les 20 bougies du Géocaching et signature du logbook.
ü Fin de l'event : 14h.

· N’oubliez pas d’enregistrer votre participation en loguant un "Will attend" et de mettre la page de la cache sur votre liste de suivi afin de recevoir des informations et d'être prévenu en cas de changement de dernière minute. Après l'event, il suffira de loguer "attended" avec un petit mot sur votre expérience pour valider une cache de plus !

The first documented GPS-located cache was placed on May 3, 2000, by Dave Ulmer of Beavercreek, Oregon. This type of scavenger hunt was originally called by its early participants GPS stash hunt, or gpsstashing. After a discussion, Matt Stum suggested "geocaching" instead of stash which could have negative connotations.
Since May 2000, the concept has taken on a global scale and millions of caches exist around the world.
I was fortunate to receive one of the “Community Celebration Events”, so I suggest you meet us at Gardouch.
Gardouch
On the historical and cultural level, Gardouch is part of the Lauragais, occupying a vast area, around the central axis that constitutes the Canal du Midi, between the agglomerations of Toulouse in the north-west and Carcassonne in the south-east and those of Castres in the north-east and Pamiers in the south-eastwest. It is the former «Pays de Cocagne», linked both to the cultivation of pastel and to the abundance of productions, and to the «breadbasket of Languedoc».
In feudal times, Gardouch, like the other villages on either side of the Lauragais furrow, had a defensive role, it was a castrum. Gardog’s castrum consisted of three forts. On the hill of the Pech de Gardog, the castellum protected the village of Gardog (deformed in Gardouch) At the foot of the Pech, the «Fort du Bas» consisted of two towers surrounding a defensive bastion, all protected by a ditch. Fort Supra at Ornolac completed the scheme.
During the Hundred Years' War, the castle (the castellum) was destroyed by the Black Prince. The Count of Toulouse, Raimond VII, had it restored.
At the time of the Pastel, the village spreads out at the bottom of the hill along the Côte Pavée and the Rue de la République.
The advantages of the construction of the Riquet Canal in the 17th century were to repair the disasters caused by the wars of religion. From the port of Agals, grains, straw and fodder sailed towards the Netherlands while stones, gravel and wines rose up.
The Event
ü Date : Saturday 18 of December 2021 at noon.
ü Location : Gardouch, near the forest with parking places on site.
ü Lunch : Shared picnic (remember to specify what you bring). There are tables and benches at the event location.
ü Swap and share TB’s.
ü Group photo to blow out the 20 candles of the Géocaching and logbook signature.
ü End of the event : 14h.
ü After the event : Ah!! Surprise?
Practical information
· Don’t forget to save your participation by hosting a "Will attend" and put the cache page on your tracking list in order to receive information and be warned in case of last minute change. After the event, just log "attended" with a little word about your experience to validate one more cache!
