Geocache Description:

14 November 2020, 12:00 - 12:30

What do you call a potato wearing glasses?

A SPEC-tator!

Date: 14 November 2020
Time: 12:00 - 12:30 p.m.
Place: Covered shelter at Lincoln Park

This year’s WWFM celebrates the “20th Anniversary of Geocaching” — looking back & looking ahead. As a result, a pair of funky eye-glasses could be helpful for seeing things. Therefore, instead of being a spectator, channel your inner Elton John and create the wildest pair of glasses you can and come prepared to model them! Feel free to acessorize with a stylish hat and/or and necktie!

WHAT TO BRING

(1) A slip of paper with your caching name on it
(2) A pair of funky eye-glasses (hat and a necktie encouraged)

AGENDA

11:50-11:59

Park in the Lincoln Park parking lot. Please have a small piece of paper with your caching name on it ready to put in the container at 12:00.

11:59
Casually make your way towards GZ but as much as you can, act like a muggle, pretend not to know each other or give any indication that something is about to happen. STAY AWAY from GZ until your GPS clock or cell phone tells you it's EXACTLY 12:00.

12:00-12:05
Arrive at GZ, sign the log, put your caching name into the container and take a ticket.

12:05-12:15
Model your awesome pair of glasses, hat, & necktie. Feel free to no longer act like muggles - we all know and like each other :).

12:15
Vote for: (1) Best pair of eye-wear

Continue mingling while votes are tallied. Group photo for the WWFM website followed more geo-chat, and draw for a prize...who knows what it will be, the host lives across the street from a thrift store ;).

AT EXACTLY 12:30
The area is to be evacuated without a trace at exactly 12:30.

History of the WWFM

Podcachers Sonny and Sandy came up with the WWFM idea in 2007 after attending a mega-event. It was meant to be a fun “opposite” of a mega-event with all the cool aspects of a geocaching event, crammed into 15 minutes of excitement. "WW" - World Wide – represents these events occurring across the planet on the same day at (mostly) the same time! These caching events are intended to bring geocachers together in a creative way, as well as introduce others (newbies) to the hobby. (click here for more info)

The key to a successful flash mob is to assemble suddenly in a public place and disperse after a few minutes leaving onlookers wondering what just happened!

(The above came up when I searched for puns about glasses. This wasn't the kind of glass(es) I was looking for, but it made me smile so I thought I'd share.)
