Groundspeak have planned their bi-annual CITO event period from 1st March to 31st May 2020 inclusive, so plenty of opportunity for geocachers to gather together to make a difference to our world. We will be earning another CITO profile souvenir when attended and logged!
CITO simply stands for Cache-in-and-Trash-Out, or in English a chance to volunteer to pick up rubbish that gets left to spoil our countryside as well as other opportunities to "do our bit", and everyone especially families, children and dogs are very welcome. We will be joining Kate Ponting from Clinton Estates as we have done before, and joining the Otter Valley Association with EDDC Spring Litter Pick on Saturday 4th April 2020 to clear litter from the Otter Estuary SSSI below White Bridge.
WE WILL BE MEETING AT THE LIME KILN CARPARK [given coordinates] BUDLEIGH SALTERTON promptly by 9.45am when CARPARKING PERMITS WILL BE ISSUED TO VOLUNTEERS, as well as bags and litter pickers.
PLEASE BRING YOUR LOADED BAGS [and the litter pickers!] BACK TO THE CARPARK, AND AT 11.45am PRIZES will be awarded to the most unusual finds!!
Volunteers should bring GARDENING GLOVES if they have them although Kate Ponting, Clinton Estates' Countryside Learning Officer, does have a few spares. LONG SLEEVES/TROUSERS offer protection against nettles. BOOTS OR WELLIES are advised but most important is to be comfortable. Entering water will not be necessary but not restricted either as cachers are intrepid in the pursuit of their prize! Please bring DRINKS to quench your thirst whilst working - oops, that should be whilst enjoying yourselves!
All Clinton Estates staff carry first aid kits and charged mobile phones, although parts of this area is known to be a signal quiet spot.
As usual I will be bringing a supply of naughty chocolate bars or similar to encourage attendees!
