En 1918 , sa position élevée , ses 2 étages et l'épaisseur de ses murs , en feront un poste d’observation et de transmission idéal pour les deux belligérants qui y établiront leurs postes de Commandement à tour de rôle tout en s’assurant un abri contre l’intensité des combats et des bombardements  

Before the war, the wood was the hunting private reserve of the Count de Belleau, hence the presence of this pavilion. 
In 1918, its high position, with two floors and the thickness of its walls made it an ideal observation and transmission post for the two belligerents who established their command posts there in turn, while ensuring shelter from the intensity of the fighting and bombardments.
