11-12 Setup, trade trackables, cache in the park
12 Announcements. First batch of hamburgers/hot dogs should be ready
GROUP PHOTO to be taken after announcements
12-2 Silent Auction
12:15 NoVAGO U101 elective, followed by more socializing and caching
2-2:30 Pay for and remove auction items
2:30-3 Clean up. Don't forget trackables, food and containers and your auction items!
All cachers are welcome! Whether new to geocaching, charter member or visiting from outside Northern Virginia come join us and find out what the Northern Virginia Geocaching Organization (NoVAGO) is all about. It is a community that loves caching, sharing stories, hints and fellowship!
Below are the current activities planned for the event. There are other fun things brewing. Look for updates on this cache page and the
NoVAGO Facebook group.
- Food: As with all of our picnics NoVAGO will be supplying the charcoal, hamburgers, hot dogs, plates, and condiments. Be sure to log your “will-attend” as early as possible to ensure that we have enough food. Attendees are encouraged to bring your favorite pot luck dish, all we ask is that you list what you are bringing in your “will attend” log so that others won’t bring in a similar dish.
- Silent Auction: In keeping with the NoVAGO tradition, our Fall Picnic is also the time for the silent auction. Start thinking of items you would like to donate. The auction will be going on throughout the event, so come and bid on the many cool items that will be up for auction! Look for an announcement for when the auction will close so that you can be there to pick up your items! This activity is optional, but our annual auction is NoVAGO's main source of income.
- Travel Bugs: If you bring Travel Bugs, please exchange them amongst yourselves rather than leave them on a table for trading. They tend to get lost that way and we all know how frustrating that can be.
- Event ends at 3:00 PM: Please retrieve anything that you wish to from in and around the shelter before 3:00 PM. This includes personal items and any dishes, containers or left over potluck items. We will be cleaning up the area at this time and can not ensure these items will be left undisturbed afterwards.
- Please remember park rules: No alchohol. Dogs must be on leash. Clean up after your pet.
- Directions: From Cascades Parkway:
- Turn onto Loudoun Park Lane
- Follow Loudoun Park Lane approximately 3/4 mile
- Turn Left onto Heritage Farm Lane Park in the area of the Museum Parking Lot closest to the Windmill
- Walk along the pathway at the left end of the museum (near the Windmill,) straight into the historic area.
- Pavilion #2 is straight ahead, past the log cabin and Lanesville Ordinary (large White House.)
Community Celebration Events - 2020-2022
