We zijn in de Paleistuin bij Paleis Noordeinde.
In de verte de koninklijke stallen, dan het Koninklijk Archief en aan deze kant Paleis Noordeinde.

Openingstijden.

De tuin is open van zonsopgang tot zonsondergang.
Alleen dan is de cache toegankelijk.
Picknicken is toegestaan.
Op speciale dagen kan de tuin gesloten zijn, bijvoorbeeld wanneer er belangrijke gasten zijn in het paleis.

Geschiedenis van de Paleistuin.

De tuin was lange tijd alleen toegankelijk voor de bewoners van het paleis. Het heette toen de Princessetuin.
In 1785 steeg vanuit de tuin de eerste bemande luchtballon in Nederland op.

Een kunstwerk herinnert aan deze ballonvaart.

In 1953 schonk koningin Juliana de tuin aan de gemeente den Haag, het werd door haar geopend in 1954:

Het park is geschikt voor kinderen (er is een speelgedeelte), om te picknicken, er zijn workshops yoga en workouts fitness.

De cache

Pas op bij drukte, zorg tevens dat je niet opvalt voor eventuele beveiliging. Om deze reden heb ik het attribuut 'Stealth Required' gekozen.

This is the Palace Garden. In the distance we see the Royal Stables, the Royal Archive and close to us is the Royal Palace.

Opening hours

The garden is open daily from sunrise until sunset, during which the cache location can be accessed. Picknicking is allowed in the park.
The garden can be found closed on days when the royal family has important guests.

History of the Palace garden

During the first centuries the garden was for the inhabitants of the Palace, the Royal Family.
In 1785 from this garden the first ascencion of a Dutch manned balloon flight took place (see pen and ink drawing above). One of the sculptures in the park is a reminder of that event.
In 1953 the garden was given to the city of Den Haag as a present. The black and white photograph shows the opening in 1954 of the garden for the public, by queen Juliana.
Since then the park is a city park.

Nowadays.

The park is worth a visit with children, you can picknick here, do yoga workshops and fitness workouts.
