20th Earth Day CITO Celebration Cache In Trash Out Event

This cache has been archived.

ndjeff: I have just been contacted by NH Audubon and they will not be hosting their walk in to Cherry Pond on Earth Day. And geocaching.com is issuing strong caveats to not gather. The event is therefore postponed. Feel free to pick up trash anyway! I have asked the reviewer to release the four caches I hid nearby so folks can socially distance themselves in the area. Thanks!

Geocache Description:

22 April 2020, 09:00 - 11:00

Event coords mark parking area at Cherry Mountain Slide historic marker and Owl's Head Trail. We will pick up litter in the parking area and around this trailhead and the Cohos Trail  across the road. This is one of several areas being cleaned up today that serve as trailheads in the Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge. There should be some new caches in place along this section of the CT. ( Slide Brook Trail).

Please bring leather gloves, litter grabbing stick if you have one, possibly rubber boots. Trash bags and drinking water will be provided.

Plans are to have an optional hike after the clean-up to the heart of Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge to the viewing platform overlooking Cherry Pond. The Ammonoosuc Chapter of NH Audubon will lead the hike. We hope to see loons and a variety of marsh birds and early migrants. The round trip is three miles on a flat rail trail. Bring lunch, water and binoculars for the hike. There are quite a few geocaches along the trail.
