Geocache Description:

29 February 2020, 07:00 - 07:30

What will you do with your extra day this year?

What is the purpose of a leap day?

February 29 is a date that usually occurs every four years, and is called leap day. This day is added to the calendar in leap years as a corrective measure, because the Earth does not orbit the sun in precisely 365 days. The Gregorian calendar is a modification of the Julian calendar first used by the Romans.

Join us in celebrating Leap Day 2020 with a quick event followed by a 10km hike with a few geocache finds along the way! We will be meeting at the start of the hiking trail next to the snack shop at 7am to enjoy a wake up coffee and a chat before the merry bunch of hikers head off on the trail at 7:30am. No need to purchase anything from the snack stand. After all the caches have been found and the trail complete, we will be heading to a local brewery for lunch and Ice Cold refreshments.  You do not need to complete the trail or join the hike or lunch to log the event.
