Geocache Description:

About SideTracked Caches

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website

(But in actual fact, there's quite a nice view from here, in particular if you go up the steps of the overpass.)

About Craigendoran Station

The name Craigendoran comes from a farm which was located on the shore side of the original alignment. It was a three platform station built in 1882, later expanded to five.

Two platforms were on the double track deviation line, one platform was on Craigendoran Pier and two further platforms were faces of an island on the 1894 West Highland Railway.

Of all five platforms, only the up platform of the original through station remains, the down line between Craigendoran Junction and Helensburgh Central was lifted in 1984. The British Railways building has been demolished and replaced with a large bus shelter.

We placed the cache in January and would give it a D1 rating, however in summer there is probably going to be quite a bit of undergrowth, hence the D2 rating as it might not be spotted as easily or as quickly as in winter.
