Geocache Description:

21 March 2020, 10:00 - 13:00

CITO season 1 starts on 1st March 2020 so come and join us for a morning of monkey business at the Yorkshire in Bloom Platinum award winning York Cemetery and earn your first CITO season souvenir of the year. Without the efforts of volunteers, the cemetery could not operate as the award winning wildlife and visitor haven it is today.

The task.

Our main task on the day will involve the re-location of a Monkey Puzzle tree and scrub clearance.

How are we doing that? you may well ask, well, firstly we'll divide up into groups, one group will be digging out the new hole for the tree, the second team will be carefully excavating the tree from its existing spot and the third team will be tackling the scrub clearing. Obviously these tasks all vary in in difficulty and physicality, don't assume scrub clearing will be easy going however!, we have a massive overgrown bramble patch that needs clearing, spike and blood galore!

Of course the number of attendees will determine how tasks are allocated, so if you have a preference for what you'd like to do then mention it in your 'will attend' log.

At about 12noon we will stop for lunch. Bring a packed lunch, tea and cakes will be served in the chapel, ensure you bring a mug or something as we are plastic free.

Important information, please read.

York Cemetery - The Monkey Business CITO

CANCELLED

Firstly if you are coming then please log a 'will attend' note and mention how many will be in your group, this is extremely important, not to mention polite, to ensure the event and planning run smoothly.

Meet at our temporary tool storage area at the rear of the chapel for introductions and H&S brief. Introduce yourself as Geocachers if you've not been before, there will not be an event log book, but we will have a site attendance sheet for you to sign, this must be signed with your real world name and not caching name, this is an insurance requirement for the site, if you do not sign this then you will not be able to work on site, sorry.

We recommend you wear sturdy footwear as we will be working on uneven ground between gravestones. You can bring your own gardening gloves, the thicker the better, but we have plenty on site if you don't own any of your own. All tools and safety equipment will be provided.

Children are welcome, but must be supervised at all times, though this task may not be suitable for small children. No dogs are allowed in the cemetery, apart from registered assistance dogs. Please remember that this is a working cemetery and there will probably be people visiting graves.

Our tasks on the day may change depending on the weather, we will update the listing and make announcements accordingly, please ensure you have logged a 'will attend' to receive these updates.
