Date: Sunday May 01, 2022
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Location: Edworthy Park Picnic Site #2
Due to unprecedented historic changes in the world since early 2020
our original scheduled Dog Pound 2020 Special Edition CCE for May 2, 2020 had to be cancelled.
Two years later we are going to try again differently and this time it will be a TRIPLE CELEBRATION.
The official celebration day is May 2, 2022, but we are holding it 1 day earlier in order to make it possible for more people to attend.
What is there to celebrate you say? Let us explain:
1. 20 years of Geocaching - Geocaching HQ is still trying to celebrate 20 years of Geocaching since 2020 and it seems this year it might happen in Seattle, WA, USA. Well, for those that are not able to attend on Aug 20, 2022, either because time won't allow it or are not able to cross the border and return without major hoops and hassles, because of restrictions that change almost weekly, you can come to this event and celebrate with us.
2. 20 years of Calgary History Tour Virtuals - Did you know that on May 2, 2002, 8 Virtual caches were published, which are still active 20 years later, plus there is the Bonus cache, which is not very far from the event site. These were published by 6 different geocache hiders, only 2 are still active, and 3 went inactive and were adopted by sapien. We might even have a surprise visitor attending, fingers crossed.
3. Blue Switch Day - If you attend an event or find a geocache from Sat Apr 30 to Mon May 2 you earn the Blue Switch Day Souvenir, because of a change in technology 22 years ago, on May 2, 2000, the Selective Availability for GPS Signals was removed and this hobby of ours was born.
Calgary History Tour Caches
You'll need to find all 8 caches to solve for the Bonus cache (GC53FE):
- First Nations
- N.W.M.P.
- Settlers & Ranching
- Cowboys & the Stampede
- Missionaries
- Politics
- Olympics
- Outlaws!
Chinatown This is a new Virtual Reward 2017/2018, added later to the Tour.
