It is a Greek myth that tells of the first woman's arrival on earth. And with her all the human tragedies.
Titan Prometheus, who created ordinary men out of clay, wanted to give them fire. Zeus, his boss, did not let - he said the fire belonged to the gods, and should not leave Mount Olympus, the holy abode.
Prometheus didn't even want to know. He gave the fire to us mere mortals and pretended that nothing had happened.
Zeus didn't like this story at all. First he punished Prometheus: he tied him to a stone, and every day an eagle came to eat his liver for eternity. Then he punished the men, who should not have accepted the stolen gift. For this he created Pandora, the first woman.
Before sending it to Earth, he handed her a box, recommending that it never be opened. Within her, the gods had placed an arsenal of misfortunes upon man: discord, war, envy, pain, and all the ailments of body and mind. Below, at the bottom of the package, was a hidden gift: hope.
Overcome with curiosity, Pandora eventually opened the box, releasing all the evils in the world - but closed it before hope could come out. And only she is left for us!
Rumors appoint Geocaching as the keeper of Pandora's Box!
