Geocache Description:

This war memorial was unveiled on the 5th of August 1905, and shows a Boer War Tommy in Khaki Drill uniform lunging with rifle, bayonet fixed. The bayonet however is no more, having been broken off in the 1950s by children swinging on it. There are plaques on all four sides, listing those who fell, died of their injuries or sickness, and those who served, from the Darlington area.

The unveiling of the memorial by Field Marshall Roberts
