This is a geocaching circuit I put in place for Samhain / Hallowe'en 2019. It's a series of 12 caches, plus a Bonus cache which can be found with the help of clues from the other 12 caches. The circuit is about 5km long, and would take roughly 90 minutes to complete if you weren't stopping for geocaches!
I have tried to give the caches a Samhain / Hallowe'en theme and in the notes for each I explain an aspect of the ancient European festival. You will find that it is not a commercial American sweets and plastic tat festival. Its roots are ancient, it incorporates many traditions from Celtic, Greek and Roman cultures and probably long before even those.
Each Cache contains a number which can be used to calculate the co-ordinates of the Bonus Cache so note these down on your way. don't forget a pen and tweezers
Cache 10 - Serpent
The serpent is another creature often associated with Hallowe'en and are again symbols of the life force and the cycles of nature. Particularly with its shedding of skins giving it the aspect of renewal and rebirth. And in its aspect as the Ouroboros, the circle with its tail in its mouth depicting eternity and immortality. It is often associated with wells and springs as the source of life and is associated with the goddess for this same reason.
