Ce moulin à vent est dans la commune de Saint Arailles.
Saint Arailles est un castelnau fortifié datant du XIIIe siècle solidement ancré sur son éperon rocheux. Saint-Arailles fait partie de cette multitude de villages se rapportant à un saint. Il doit son nom à Ste Eulalie, martyrisée en 304 à Barcelone, qui a donné par différentes mutations Sancta Eulalia, Santa Ralia, Sentaralha. Deux tours-portes commandent toujours l’entrée du village (archères) et les remparts dominent la vallée. L’église de Saint Arailles a pour patron Saint Barthélémy.
Son typique clocher-mur et son auvent avec sa charpente chevillée sont remarquables.
à quelques mètres du village : pile gallo-romaine de la Turraque du Merlieu, la chapelle de Brétous (classée ISMH) au sud, auprès de laquelle coule la fontaine réputée miraculeuse. Le lavoir au bas du village avec sa jolie charpente en bois. Musée d’école à visiter les lundis et jeudis de 14h à 18h. Zone nature 2000 (Présence d’orchidées). un sentier de randonnée pédestre balisé.

This windmill is just outside the pretty village of Saint Arailles.
Is a fortified village dating from the thirteenth century firmly anchored on its rocky outcrop. Saint-Arailles is part of this multitude of villages related to a saint. It owes its name to St. Eulalia, martyred in 304 in Barcelona, who gave by different mutations Sancta Eulalia, Santa Ralia, Sentaralha. Two archways still command the entrance to the village and the ramparts dominate the valley. The church of Saint Arailles is patron saint of Saint Barthelemy.
Its typical steeple-wall and its awning with its pegged frame are remarkable.
A few meters from the village: Gallo-Roman pile of the Merlieu's Turraque, Bretous chapel (classified ISMH) to the south, near which flows the fountain deemed miraculous. The laundry at the bottom of the village with its beautiful wooden frame. School museum to visit Mondays and Thursdays from 14h to 18h. Nature area 2000 (Presence of orchids). A marked hiking trail.
The windmill is private property !! Stop and look at the view, when the weather is right, the view of the Pyrénées is truly stunning.
