Geocache Description:

English

The village of Biran is an old Castelnau from the 13th century, located above a limestone spur and which has preserved vestiges of ramparts and castle ruins.

Founded by a lord of the Biran family, it is entered through the tower gate which acts as a steeple since 1666.
A single street opens on the square where stands the Church of Our Lady of Mercy which contains a remarkable stone altarpiece ( masterpiece of Baroque Art from the 17th century).

In the south-west, on the double motte castrale, was built a castle between 1080 and 1100, of which there remains today only a vestige: the square watchtower and its 20 meters high.

The tower (a word that designates a Gallo-Roman pile) Lacouture is one of the best preserved in the department of Gers. Although without special decoration, his device of small stones is almost intact. It is on the right bank of the Baise, in the middle of a cultivated field, a short distance from the Biran road and towards the village of Brouilh-Monbert.

The presence of two Romanesque chapels on the right bank of the Baïse are also to discover: "Le Mas" and "Ramesan".

To find this cache, walk through the village and it is near the tower
