Every four years, Taiwan holds the elections of president and vice president、members of the Legislative Yuan and the mayors of cities. Also, sometimes Taiwan has recall elections or referenda. All of them use the Taiwan-only special voting stamp. Do you know why the stamp was designed like the Chinese character "卜"?
There is a explanation that since the pattern is like the another character "人" which means "people". It indicates the power of the governor is authorized by each people of this country.
Another scientific reason is, the wet marks would be mirrored when folding the votes, which would be considered null votes. The asymmetric sign could help the staffs to distinguished which is the real stamp on the votes.

有一種說法是這個圖案很像中文的"人"字，象徵著選舉是由"人民"來決定，當選者的權力是"人民"所賦予的。
而另一種比較科學的解釋是，為了防止再蓋完章、選票對折時，還沒乾的墨水可能會印到選票單的另一面而被當成廢票。這種不對稱的圖章，可以讓選務人員在開票時很容易就區分是不是故意蓋兩個章還是是意外轉印，是個很貼心的設計。
