Sham castle was built in 1762 as a "Sham" or folly, partly to experiment with building styles and techniques and partly to provide an interesting building to see. It was built by Ralph Allen who was also responsible for "Prior Park", a NT house in Bath.
It has an excellent position overlooking the city where you could picnic and admire the views.
In order to get to the cache you can either walk along the Skyline Walk (highly recommended) or park nearby. The closest point is the Bath Golf Club but this is private.

Beware of old barbed wire in a few places near the cache. Stay in the field; you can’t access the cache if you cross the wall / barbed wire into the woods. The thorns and nettles can make this cache much harder in the summer.
