Friday, October 18, 2019 from 6:00pm until 11:45pm
30 minutes of schmoozing,
followed by a 7.5 mile evening paddle
This event will be in two parts, one for landlubbers, (AKA: those sane enough to avoid a painful death), and one for those crazy enough to paddle little plastic boats, through waters infested with giant alligators, venomous snakes, and drunks in air-boats. We will meet at the posted coordinates for the prerequisite 30 minutes of schmoozing, at 6:00pm, during which time the sane can try convincing the seemingly less sane, that paddling these waters at night is a bit kooky.
Good luck with that!
Your host is Clan Riffster, and history tells us that kooky is kinda his specialty.
After the schmoozing, those who wish will splash their boats, and paddle to the take out, on Hwy-19, a distance of just over 7 miles. There will be some geocaches to find along the way, for those interested in such things. Our friends at the US Coast Guard tell us that, in addition to your paddlecraft & paddle, you will need a PFD, a whistle, and a "white light capable of illuminating in 360 degrees". That's a fancy way of saying "flashlight". The sunset should be around 7:00pm, so lighting will be really important. Other things to bring are water, snackage, bug spray, long sleeves, a hat, more bug spray, etc.
There will be door prizes! See you there!
