👻 Hallowed Cache: The Dog 🐕 Letterbox Hybrid

You would be wise not to venture into the Haunted House on the edge of town alone. However, not a single soul will join you...except one. Your trusted furry friend. But first, you must take him out on a scouting mission of sorts and see if he can handle seeking out clues. You take him to the start of the trail at the posted coordinates after finding whatever legal parking you can. He's on a leash as per park rules and you head south down the path. For a while you're following a fence that separates you from the golf course. If you hear "FORE!" just duck. You'll be fine, I'm sure. All of a sudden, the dog breaks free from the leash and heads down into the swamp on the right side. No matter, he needed a bath anyway and he's still in sight. So you continue along the pavement and watch him move along chasing ducks. Eventually, he makes his way back up to you and gives a huge shake to spray you with stagnant water. Fun. Right about this point, you reach down to reattach his leash and he darts off again. Fine, Dog, stay off the leash but let's hope no one complains. Once you get to the part where the path veers right as the fence turns left, the dog once again heads off on his own. You're about to decide to leave him at home when you search the Haunted House but it looks like he's caught on to something. Follow him along the fence and the little worn path. Just past the very first bend he sits and is excited about something. Upon closer inspection, you see a padlock he is pointing his nose at. On the back side of the lock is some writing. The Dog pointed this out so it must be important. Take note of everything there; it's gotta mean something. Then, continue down the fenceline until it meets the paved path again. Keep following it. In a short distance, the path opens up into a grassy clearing in the shape of a "V" with the top of the "V" being the fence/golf course. The dog darts off again across the top of the "V" and into the woods to the east. You go after him. He ran out of sight but luckily he followed the small trail. This trail leads you along the fence. The further you go, the more worried you get that this dog isn't going to behave enough to take him into the House with you. But you want to give him one last chance to prove himself. At the end of the fence line, there is a 2-trunked tree just to your right. You may even see a road sign pointing in the right direction. Just on the other side of that there is a much older and rustier fence where it has been bent down. You can see the dog snooping out a drainage tunnel just on the other side. You step over the fence and just as you make it over to him, his head perks up to the right (as your back faces the golf course) and he sniffs along the ground parallel to the course about 15 feet or so to some downed trees. His tail starts wagging like crazy and he barks at you to come look. A box in the woods ready for your signature! Alright, Dog, you may prove useful yet.
