Geocache Description:

15 September 2019, 10:00 - 13:00

Cache In Trash Out (CITO) is an environmental initiative supported by the geocaching community. Please help us say thank you to the Saja River by joining other geocachers to clean it up today. Here we can find a paleochannel, a channel where the Saja river flowed through many years ago and due to natural causes changed to another channel closer to the bank. (Earthcache GC7X89D)

This is the neighborhood of the Treasure of the Temple Knights GeoTour, and a beatiful valley to discover by the whole family.

Please meet up at 10 am and wear clothes that can get dirty and suitable shoes. If you have work gloves or garden gloves, bring them. If not, we will try to provide you..

THE WORK:

  1. picking up trash - garbage bags will be provided. Be sure to leave your garbage bags at this location at the end of yuor work.
  2. planting flowers - will plant some local plants provided by one of the cache "Guardians"
  3. fix the fence? - It is still unknown, but we know that the Saja River carried more water thousands of years ago and when the channel rested it may have stopped receiving water. Small landslides might have also had some to do with it by blocking the flow off and opening the current channel. Last January, the Cantabrian rivers had a great flood, something unusual that caused the overflow of the Nansa and Saja rivers especially, causing significant damage that is still pending to be solved by the municipalities. Our host and "Geocaching friendly" Camping de Cabuérniga (besto of Europe in 2017), suffered especially these damages and there are several nearby areas that we can help to repair.
  4. Travel Bugs Hotel and Insects.

If you would like to join us for a picnic lunch, we will meet at 13:00 at the Camping Playground. We will provide water so you can wash your hands.

Can you please bring your own picnic/lunch? You are welcome to bring extra to share with other people, of course. :-)

PRIZES:

During the lunch, we will have a raffle drawing of several Saja Nansa GeoTour CITO's travelbugs and geocoins. Please, only one prize per family.
