About SideTracked Caches

About Captains Flat Station

Captains Flat Station is the terminus of the Captains Flat Line which was a branch line off the Bombala Line from Bungendore Junction.

It was used primarily as a goods line transporting mined ore.  It was opened on 7 June 1940.  With mining operations ceasing in 1962, demand significantly reduced and the line was closed on 31 August 1968.  It was briefly reopened for the filming of Ned Kelly in 1969(the Mick Jagger version).

The actual train station is now privately owned, so the pin location will take you to the goods yard.
