Há muitos, muitos anos atrás, contava uma velhinha, a dona Gertrudes, lavadeira, uma história que sua mãe lhe tinha contado um dia, quando guardavam gado no monte:
- Minha filha, nestes montes há ouro.
- Nas minas, mãe?
- E não só. Sabes, antigamente, muito antigamente, os romanos exploravam o nosso ouro aqui nas serras de Pias e lá nas Banjas. Mas, 3 romanos eram gananciosos. Eles fartavam-se de ver passar pepitas de ouro, e sempre para os chefes e para Roma e eles coitados, mal vestidos e sempre a guerrear. Então, um dia, eles decidiram roubar algumas pepitas e fugir para a Gália. Meteram algumas pepitas das grandes num baú velho e ferrugento e lá foram eles, durante a noite, numa carroça.
Mas, de manhã, já as tropas romanas estavam no encalce deles. Então, Petrônio, o mais esperto deles, resolveu esconder o baú na serra por onde passaram. Assim, se fossem apanhados, não tinham o ouro e eram libertados. E voltariam depois para levar o baú.
Jano, o seu amigo, desceu da carroça e pousou o baú sobe um cepo de uma árvore velha, e voltou à carroça e fugiram. O terceiro amigo, Cesarino, ficou encarregue de decorar o local e marcá-lo num mapa. Mas, para não serem roubados, ele marcou com um erro no mapa. No entanto, era mais velho e esquecido e acabou por se confundir. Por isso, quando voltaram ao local, os 3 romanos não conseguiram encontrar o ouro. E procuraram, e procuraram durante anos.
- E ainda está no monte, o ouro, mãe?
- Está, Gertrudes, está. Nunca ninguém o encontrou. Já conseguiram converter a localização do velho Cesarino, mas ainda não resolveram o enigma, por isso, não conseguem encontrar o baú.
- E eu posso tentar, mãe, posso, posso?

- Ah, diziam uns antigos que a própria história chegava. Outros, que o segredo estava no início do desvio por onde os romanos fugiram. Contavam que nesse local encontrarás algo que não é natural. E será o número dessas coisas não naturais iguais que resolvem as coordenadas.
O tempo passou e a dona Gertrudes nunca conseguiu encontrar o ouro. E tu? Consegues?

They were tired of seeing gold nuggets pass, to their chiefs and to Rome and they stayed poor, poorly dressed and always having to fight. Then, one day, they decided to steal some nuggets and flee to Gaul. They put some big nuggets in an old, rusty trunk, and there they went, in the night, in a wagon.
But in the morning the Roman troops were already on their trail. Then Petronius, the cleverest of them, decided to hide the trunk in the mountains. So if they were caught, they did not have the gold and would be released. And they would come back later to take the chest.
Jano, his friend, got out of the wagon and put the trunk up a stump of an old tree, and returned to the wagon and fled. The third friend, Cesarino, was in charge of decorating the place and marking it on a map. But not to be stolen, he scored with a map error. However, he was older and forgotten and eventually confused. Therefore, when they returned to the place, the 3 Romans could not find the gold. And they searched and searched for years.
