Une stratification croisée
La stratification croisée hummocky (en anglais abrégé HCS) est un type de structure sédimentaire trouvée dans les grès. C'est une forme de lit croisé généralement formé par l'action de grosses tempêtes, telles que les ouragans. Cela prend la forme d'une série de formes de "sourire" qui se recoupent.

Sur cette photo de conglomérat, les marques d'ondulation, d'oscillation, la stratification croisée et les lits de tempête indiquent que le plateau peu profond était dominé par les vagues et les tempêtes.
