Chungking Mansions is famous (or infamous) throughout Hong Kong, and even worldwide. It opened in 1961, and was a new style of building at that time - a composite building. It has two lower floors for commercial use, and three blocks above this supposedly for 'high class' residential use. By the late 60's, many apartments had been converted to guesthouses, and the building became known as a place for cheap accommodation for servicemen on leave, backpackers etc. Other flats were converted to restaurants or small industrial units, and the building became the centre for many small trading operations, which resulted in the very diverse range of cultures that you can find here. So of course there are lots of people here selling things... Come and see for yourself what a colourful place this is. For a really authentic experience, you might stay in a guesthouse, or have a meal here (purely optional). To log this cache, take a picture in front of one of the food stalls here with your GPS, phone or a note with your caching name showing and post it in your log. Optional - in your log, list all the various things that people tried to sell you as you approached this building. This Virtual Cache is part of a limited release of Virtuals created between June 4, 2019 and June 4, 2020. Only 4,000 cache owners were given the opportunity to hide a Virtual Cache.
