La maison d'Adam, également appelée maison d'Adam et Ève ou de l'Arbre-de-Vie, est une maison à colombages située au cœur de la ville d'Angers. C'est un des témoignages architecturaux du patrimoine médiéval existant encore de nos jours, puisqu'elle fut construite vers 1491. Elle doit son nom à la représentation d’Adam et Eve entourant l’arbre de vie sur l’un des poteaux du rez-de-chaussée.
Le bâtiment est constitué d'un rez-de-chaussée surmonté de trois étages, plus deux étages de combles et un sous-sol voûté en berceau.
L’architecture de la maison est typique du moyen age mais très surprenant et créatif pour notre époque. La maison est fait en pan-de-bois. Les décors fait à même le bois, mélange le profane et le religieux. Du haut de ses 6 étages, elle se distingue des autres bâtiments qui l’entourent, mais s’intègre parfaitement dans le décors moderne de la ville.
Le style architectural est représentatif des belles demeures à pans de bois, des riches marchands de la fin du XVe siècle :

The house of Adam, also called house of Adam and Eve or Tree-of-Life, is a half-timbered house located in the heart of the city of Angers. It is one of the architectural evidences of medieval heritage still existing today, since it was built around 1491. It owes its name to the representation of Adam and Eve surrounding the tree of life on one of the posts of the ground -of the road.
The building consists of a ground floor surmounted by three floors, plus two floors of attic and a basement vaulted cradle.
The architecture of the house is typical in the middle ages but very surprising and creative for our time. The house is made of pan-de-bois. The sets are made of wood, mix the layman and the religious. From the top of its 6 floors, it stands out from the other buildings that surround it, but fits perfectly into the modern surroundings of the city.
The architectural style is representative of beautiful half-timbered houses, rich merchants of the late fifteenth century :
