Virtual wskazuje rzeźbę. Została ona wykonana przez Igora Mitoraja. Rzeźbiarza znanego na całym świecie, a w Polsce tak mało rozpoznawalnego. Postrzegany jest jako artysta, który odniósł ogromny sukces. Urodził się w 1944 roku w Oederan koło Drezna jako syn deportowanej polskiej robotnicy przymusowej i francuskiego jeńca wojennego, oficera Legii Cudzoziemskiej. Po zakończeniu II wojny św. wraz z matką powrócił do Polski. Dzieciństwo i młodość Mitoraj spędził w miejscowości Grojec. Po ukończeniu Liceum Plastycznego w Bielsku-Białej wstąpił w 1963 na Akademię Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie, gdzie studiował malarstwo pod kierunkiem Tadeusza Kantora. To T. Kantorowi zawdzięcza poważne oraz bezkompromisowe podejście do bycia artystą. W 1968, po studiach wyjechał do Paryża studiować w École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts. Większość życia spędził we włoskiej Pietrasanta. Jego pasją była także motoryzacja. W jego zbiorze znalazły się między innymi bentleye i rolls-royce. Posiadał także mały wiekowy gaj oliwny. Zmarł 6 października 2014 w Paryżu. Jego rzeźby, często gigantycznej wielkości, stoją w reprezentacyjnych punktach wielu miast świata – m.in. w Paryżu na La Défense oraz w Rzymie, Mediolanie, Lozannie, Londynie, Krakowie, Scheveningen koło Hagi w USA oraz Japonii. Tematem rzeźb Mitoraja jest ludzkie ciało, jego piękno i kruchość, a także głębsze aspekty ludzkiej natury, które pod wpływem czasu i okoliczności ulegają wynaturzeniu. Odwołując się, nawet dosłownie do mitologii lub historii Grecji i Rzymu, niejako „cytuje” piękno i idealne proporcje rzeźb klasycznych, jednocześnie uzmysławiając odbiorcy ich ludzką naturę i niedoskonałość poprzez umyślne spękania i uszkodzenia powierzchni posągów, a nawet powalenie ich na ziemię. Mityczni bohaterowie, zranieni, niedoskonali patrzą niemo na widza pustymi oczodołami, często zakryci całunami, niczym istoty ranne lub kalekie, niejednokrotnie niemi – z ustami zakrytymi tkaniną. Styl Mitoraja polegający na interpretacji antyku z wprowadzeniem wyraźnych akcentów nowoczesności, jest obecnie rozpoznawany przez miłośników sztuki na całym świecie. Elementem charakterystycznym prac Mitoraja są usta, które zawsze mają kształt ust autora i stanowią nieformalny „podpis” rzeźbiarza na dziele.Rzeźby Igora Mitoraja: Eros, Centaur czy Thanatos, Ikary i Ikarie.

Mitoraj's style of interpreting the antique with the introduction of distinct accents of modernity is now recognized by art lovers around the world. The characteristic element of Mitoraj's work are lips that always have the shape of the lips of the author and constitute an informal "signature" of the sculptor on the artwork.
