Zandvoort!
Zandvoort staat bekend om het racecircuit. Al vele jaren is dit circuit de thuisbasis van de Nederlandse autosport. Maar Zandvoort biedt veel meer. Zon, zee en strand bijvoorbeeld. Op zomerse dagen is Zandvoort een geliefde plaats voor strandgangers en zijn de vele strandtenten tot de laatste stoel bezet. Ook is de Kennemer Golf en Countryclub een bijzondere plek in het dorp, regelmatig toneel van leuke toernooien. Zandvoort ligt in de duinen en was van oorsprong een vissersdorp. In de 2e Wereldoorlog werd het dorp onderdeel van de Atlantikwall waarvoor het gehele dorp ontruimd werd en veel panden gesloopt werden. Na de oorlog ligt de focus op toerisme en is van visserij geen sprake meer.
Terug naar de publiekstrekker, het circuit. Vanaf 2020 weer toneel van de formule 1! Het bijzondere circuit kent een rijke historie en ligt in de duinen. Hierdoor zijn er in de baan hoogteverschillen en blinde bochten waardoor coureurs behoorlijk aan de bak moeten. Een race op Zandvoort is dan ook nooit saai.
Deze virtual brengt je bij de ingang van het circuit. Hier staat ook het NATIONAAL AUTOSPORT MOnuMENT. Op het monument lees je namen van mensen die veel betekend hebben of nog steeds betekenen in de Nederlandse autosport.

Zandvoort is known for the racing circuit. This circuit has been the home base of Dutch motorsport for many years. But Zandvoort offers much more. Sun, sea and beach for example. On summer days, Zandvoort is a favorite place for beach-fans and the many beach bars are occupied until the last seat. The Kennemer Golf and Country Club is also a special place in the village, a regular venue for fun tournaments. Zandvoort is located in the dunes and was originally a fishing village. In the 2nd World War the village became part of the Atlantic Wall for which the entire village was evacuated and many buildings were demolished. After the war, the focus is on tourism.
Back to the circuit. Formula 1 venue in 2020! The special circuit has a rich history and is located in the dunes. As a result, there are height differences and blind turns in the track, which means drivers have to work hard. A race at Zandvoort is therefore never boring. This virtual takes you to the entrance of the circuit. Here is also the NATIONAL CAR SPORT MOnuMENT. On the monument you can read names of people who have meant a lot or still mean in Dutch motorsport.
