Kvarnen har blivit en symbol för Torekällberget och syns vida omkring. Den är en kopia av Nora kvarn från Mörkö. Den ursprungliga kvarnen flyttades till Torekällberget 1929. Den brann 1989 men återuppbyggdes.
Redan på stenåldern fanns handkvarnar som användes för att mala med.Med tiden ersattes handkraften av vatten- eller vindkraft. Nora kvarn är en s k hättkvarn eller holländare.Kvarntypen är känd sedan 1600-talet. Hela taket kan vridas och vingarna ställas så att vinden nyttjas på bästa vis Bönderna på Mörkö hade långt till närmaste kvarn och resan dit tog dyrbar tid från det dagliga arbetet. Det fanns behov av en kvarn på själva ön och därför uppfördes Nora kvarn på 1870-talet. Den användes fram till mitten av 1920-talet och den siste mjölnaren hette Kalle Öberg. Kvarnen var en tullkvarn vilket betyder att bönder och torpare betalade för att få sin spannmål mald. En viss mängd av säden togs som tull av mjölnaren. Kvarnen fungerade också som en skvallercentral. Bönderna tog med mat och dryck och medan man väntade på sin tur kunde det gå livat till i kvarnkammaren. Det rådde strikt turordning och därifrån har vi uttrycket ”först till kvarn får först mala”. Kvarnen var en bullrig, dammig och farlig arbetsplats. Vinden är nyckfull och det gällde att mala medan det blåste, även om det var natt. Enligt folktron såg kvarntomten till att väcka mjölnaren om han föll i sömn.

För att få logga denna virtuella cache skall du i din logg inkludera ett foto på kvarnen och dig själv (anskiktet behöver inte synas) tillsammans med ditt nickname samt dagens datum nedskrivet. Exempelvis på en pappersbit eller din hand.

The mill has become a symbol for Torekällberget and is widely seen. It is a copy of Nora mill from Mörkö. The original mill was moved to Torekällberget in 1929. It burned in 1989 but was rebuilt.
Already in the Stone Age were hand mills used to grind with. Over time, replaced hand the power of water or wind. Nora mill is a so-called hättkvarn or Dutch. Remaining type is known since the 1600s. The entire roof can be pivoted and wings set so that the wind is used in the best way
The farmers at Mörkö had a long way to the nearest mill and the journey there took precious time from their daily work. There was a need for a mill on the island itself and therefore built Nora mill in the 1870s. It was used until the mid-1920s and the last miller was called Kalle Öberg.
The mill was a duty mill, which means that farmers and crofters paid to have their grain ground. A certain amount of grain was taken as the customs of the miller. The mill also worked as a gossip central. The farmers took food and drink while waiting for their turn could pass merriment in kvarnkammaren.Detrådde strict order of priority and from there we have the expression "first come, first served".
The mill was a noisy, dusty and dangerous work. The wind is capricious and it came to the mill while it was blowing, even though it was night . According to folklore, looked left plot to bring Miller if he fell asleep
Log requirements:
To log this cache you need to visit the coordinates. Take a photo of yourself (no face required) with the mill in the background together with your geocaching nickname and date of visit, for example on a note or on your hand (see example). Add the picture to your found log. Logs that doesn´t fullfill these requirements will be deleted!
