O Cabo Girão é famoso pela sua falésia que é a segunda mais alta do mundo, com 580 metros de altura. É um miradouro muito conhecido com fantásticas vistas panorâmicas. Nas proximidades encontra-se a Capela de Nossa Senhora de Fátima, que foi construída em 1931 e é um dos principais locais de peregrinação da ilha.
No sopé da falésia, vê-se uma pequena área de terras cultivadas que se chamam Fajãs do Cabo Girão. Antigamente só eram acessíveis por barco, mas desde Agosto de 2003 que os agricultores usam um teleférico para melhor chegar até lá e transportar os seus produtos agrícolas. Para os viciados em adrenalina este é um local privilegiado para a prática do parapente e base-jumping. Recentemente, o pára-quedista Mário Pardo fez daqui um espectacular salto de mota.
Em 2012 a área foi remodelada e passou a ter lugares de estacionamento, lojas, cafés e, no miradouro, foi construída uma plataforma em vidro. No fundo do penhasco é possível ver o mar e algumas terras cultivadas conhecidas como 'Fajãs do Cabo Girão', zona acessível por mar ou teleférico e a Este podemos observar uma máginifica vista de Câmara de Lobos e do Funchal.
O Cabo Girão foi classificado, em Setembro de 2014, pela revista Condé Nast Traveler, como o quinto penhasco mais incrível do mundo.

Cabo Girão is famous for its cliff which is the second highest in the world, at 580 meters high. It is a well-known viewpoint with fantastic panoramic views. In the vicinity you will find the Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Fátima, which was built in 1931 and is one of the main pilgrimage sites on the island.
At the foot of the cliff, you can see a small area of cultivated land called Fajãs do Cabo Girão. In the past they were only accessible by boat but since August 2003, farmers have had an cable car to better get there. For adrenaline junkies this is a privileged place for paragliding and base-jumping. Recently, parachutist Mário Pardo made a spectacular motorcycle jump from here.
In 2012, the area was remodeled and now has parking spaces, shops, cafes and, in the viewpoint, a skywalk was built. At the bottom of the cliff it is possible to see the sea and some cultivated land known as 'Fajãs do Cabo Girão', an area accessible by sea or cable car.
Cabo Girão was classified, in September 2014, by Condé Nast Traveler magazine, as the fifth most amazing cliff in the world.
