Skräddö är en sällsynt kombination av rastplats för bilister, utställning över världsarvsområdet och en tidsmaskin som tar oss tillbaka till bronsålderns värld. Här berättas om landskapets historia i relation till hällristningarna, om resenärer då och nu, och inte minst om tanken bakom världsarven globalt.
Rastplatsen, Världsarv Tanum i Skräddö, invigdes sommaren 2015 och är en spännande introduktion till världsarvet! Den ligger vid E6:an i norra Bohuslän strax söder om Tanumshede och är det senaste tillskottet till de många intressanta besöksmålen i området. Skräddö fungerar både som en ingång till världsarvet och som en plats dit du kan åka när du besökt hällristningarna och Vitlycke museum och vill lära dig mer.
Förutom sådant som du vanligen hittar på en rastplats som möjlighet att äta medhavd matsäck och toaletter finns här också en mycket uppskattat utställning om världsarvet och en fantastisk utsikt ut över landskapet.
Hällristningar, landskap och resenärer
Utställningen på rastplatsen handlar om saker som inte finns med i utställningen på Vitlycke museum eller på informationsskyltarna vid hällristningarna. Hit kan du komma innan du ger dig ut i landskapet eller efter för att vidga bilden av Tanums världsarv.
Utställningen fokuserar på fyra spår som utgångspunkter för berättelsen om Tanums världsarv.
Landskap – hur har landskapet förändrats från den dag du de första invånarna kom till Tanum för åtta tusen år sedan? Från skärgård till dagens skogs- och jordbrukslandskap.
Resande – hur, vem och varför har man rest genom landskapet? Vi berättar om stenåldersjägarna i sina stockbåtar, om järnvägen och E6an och det som hänt däremellan.
Världsarvstanken – varför finns Världsarvslistan och hur gick det till när den skapades? Genom andra exempel från Världsarvslistan sätter vi Tanums hällristningar i sitt globala sammanhang.
Hällristningarna – det finns inga hällristningar i denna del av Tanums världsarv, varför är det så? Här kan du också uppleva de fyra mest kända hällristningarna via interaktiva panoramabilder.
Det finns också en skärm där du kan klicka dig fram till stora och små sevärdheter runt om världsarvet som rymmer omkring 600 hällristningsplatser.
Res i tiden med bronsålderskikaren
Det finns få platser i Tanum där man har en lika bra utsikt över världsarvsområdet som vid den här rastplatsen. En 100 meter lång spång, eller brygga, leder ut till en utsiktsplats där man ser hela kulturlandskapen kring Tanumsslätten, centralområdet i världsarvet. Klara dagar kan man se ända ut till Väderöarna, 22 kilometer bort!

Skräddö is a rare combination of resting places for motorists, an exhibition of the World Heritage Site and a time machine that takes us back to the Bronze Age world. Here the story is told about the history of the landscape in relation to the rock carvings, about travelers then and now, and not least about the idea behind the world heritage globally.
The resting place, World Heritage Tanum in Skräddö, was inaugurated in the summer of 2015 and is an exciting introduction to the world heritage! It is located at the E6 in northern Bohuslän just south of Tanumshede and is the latest addition to the many interesting sights in the area. Skräddö serves both as an entrance to the world heritage and as a place to go when you visit the rock carvings and the Vitlycke museum and want to learn more.
In addition to things that you usually find at a resting place as an opportunity to eat with packed lunches and toilets, there is also a much appreciated exhibition about the world heritage and a fantastic view over the landscape.
Rock carvings, landscapes and travelers
The exhibition at the rest area is about things that are not included in the exhibition at the Vitlycke Museum or on the information signs at the rock carvings. You can come here before you venture out into the landscape or afterwards to broaden the image of Tanum's world heritage.
The exhibition focuses on four tracks as a starting point for the story of Tanum's world heritage.
Landscape - how has the landscape changed from the day you first came to Tanum eight thousand years ago? From the archipelago to today's forest and agricultural landscape.
Traveling - how, who and why have you traveled through the landscape? We tell about the Stone Age hunters in their stock boats, about the railway and the E6an and what happened in between.
World Heritage Think - Why is the World Heritage List and how did it go when it was created? Through other examples from the World Heritage List, we put Tanum's rock carvings in its global context.
The rock carvings - there are no rock carvings in this part of Tanum's world heritage, why is that so? Here you can also experience the four most famous rock carvings through interactive panoramic images.
There is also a screen where you can click through to large and small attractions around the world heritage which holds about 600 rock carving sites.
Travel in time with the Bronze Age Scout
There are few places in Tanum where you have as good a view of the world heritage site as at this resting place. A 100-meter-long footbridge, or jetty, leads to a vantage point where you can see the entire cultural landscape around Tanumsslätt, the central area of the world heritage. Clear days can be seen all the way to the Weather Islands, 22 kilometers away!
