LV: Vietas izvēle nav nejauša, par cik regulāri kājām mērojot ceļu no Ērgļiem uz lauku mājām, jebkurā gadalaikā redzams skaists skats uz Latvijas ārēm. Turklāt vietvārdi izraisīja interesi par to izcelsmi... Oficiālajos resursos nekāda informācija par šo tēmu nav atrodama, bet vietējie ļaudis zin’ stāstīt, ka savulaik, kad Krievijas ķeizariene Katrīna II devās no Pēterburgas caur Alūksni uz Rundāles pili pie hercoga Ernesta fon Bīrona, tad, braucot garām šai vietai un redzot šo skatu, izsaukusies: ”Šeit taču izskatās gluži kā Itālijā!”. Kopš tā laika šis apvidus saukts par Itāliju, par ko liecina arī tepat netālu divu esošo māju nosaukumi „Itālijas” un „Roma”.

ENG: The choice for the place was not accidental. The trip from the Ērgļi city to the country house is a regular occurance, and every season of the year there is a great view of Latvian landscapes. Also the place name created an interest in how it came to be... In the official resources there is no information of how the place got it’s name, but the local tale is as follows. Once a Russian Empress Catherine II traveled from St.Petersburg through the Alūksne to Rundāles castle at Duke Ernst von Biron. On her way she was passing trough this place and said: „This looks just like Italy!”. And since then this area is called Italy. Also the reason to call this area in this name is that the two nearby houses are called Italy and Rome.
