O Arco da Vila edifício "notável" de Faro, mandado construir pelo Bispo D. Francisco Gomes do Avelar sobre uma das portas medievais das muralhas (Portas da Rainha), é uma obra da responsabilidade do arquitecto genovês Francisco Xavier Fabri, tendo sido inaugurado em 1812.
Ao centro encontra-se um nicho com imagem de São Tomás de Aquino, de origem italiana. No interior, preserva-se um portal em ferradura das muralhas mouras, único in situ no Algarve. Em obras realizadas em 1992, foi reaberto um portal, em ferradura, que correspondia a uma entrada nas antigas muralhas árabes.
O Arco da Vila é um dos locais da cidade onde habitualmente é possível observar ninhos de cegonhas (ex-libris da cidade).

The Arch of the Village "remarkable" building of Faro, ordered by Bishop D. Francisco Gomes do Avelar on one of the medieval doors of the walls (Portas da Rainha), is a work of the responsibility of the Genoese architect Francisco Xavier Fabri, and was inaugurated in 1812.
At the centre is a niche with an image of São Tomás de Aquino, of Italian origin. Inside, a horseshoe portal of the Moorish walls is preserved, unique in situ in the Algarve. In 1992, a horseshoe portal was reopened, corresponding to an entrance to the old Arab walls.
The Arco da Vila is one of the places in the town where it is usually possible to observe stork nests (ex-libris of the town).
