Die Schlacht bei Morgarten
Am 15. November 1315 zog Herzog Leopold von Habsburg mit seinem teilweise berittenen Gefolge von Zug herkommend durch das Ägerital gegen Sattel. Beim südlichen Ende des Ägerisees – am Morgarten – wurden sie von zahlenmässig unterlegenen Schwyzern überfallen und in die Flucht geschlagen. Was später als erste «Freiheitsschlacht» der Waldstätte gegen die fremden Vögte dargestellt wurde, dürfte in der Zeit selber eine Auseinandersetzung um das Erbe der Grafen von Rapperswil, der ehemaligen Vögte des Klosters, gewesen sein.

The Battle of Morgarten
On 15 November 1315 Duke Leopold of Habsburg, arriving from Zug, advanced on Sattel through the Ägeri Valley with his troops, some of them on horseback. Near the southern end of Lake Ägeri – at Morgarten – they were ambushed and, although superior in number, put to flight by Schwyz fighters. What later came to be portrayed as the first "battle for freedom" by the Forest Cantons against foreign bailiffs was more likely to be, at the time, part of an inheritance dispute involving the Counts of Rapperswil, Einsiedeln monastery's former bailiffs.

Im Volksmund, vor allem in der Region Ägeri, wird die die Schlacht von Morgarten gerne liebevoll "Schlacht am Viertel ab eis" genannt. Daher müsst Ihr, um den Cache loggen zu dürfen folgende zwei Aufgaben erledigen:
- Im Denkmal steht eine Steinbank. Suche die Metall-Plakette und nimm die letzten zwei Wörter. Setze ein Unterstreichen (_) zwischen den beiden Wörter und sende mir ein E-Mail an: ……….._………@wwz.one. Wenn deine Antwort richtig ist, wirst du umgehen eine Antwort erhalten. Erst dann darfst du den Virtual Loggen.
- Mache von den Anker-Koordinaten aus, ein Foto mit dem Denkmal im Hintergrund und mit einer digitalen Uhr, Handy, Wecker etc. auf der 13:15 steht. (siehe Beispielfoto) Dieses Bild lädst Du dann zusammen mit Deinem Log hoch. Diese Aufgabe ist freiwillig, ich würde mich aber über ein Foto sehr freuen.

Bemerkung: Jeweils am 15. November findet das traditionelle Morgartenschiessen statt. Zugang zum Denkmal ist erschwert.
In vernacular language, especially in the region around Lake Ägeri, the Battle of Morgarten is also affectionately called "Battle of Quarter past one". Therefore, you have to do the following two tasks to log the cache:
- There is a stone bench in the monument. Find the metal plaque and take the last two words. Put a underline (_) between the two words and send me an email: .........._...........@wwz.one. If your answer is correct, you will receive a reply immediately. Only then you will be allowed to log the Virtual.
- From the anchor coordinates, take a photo with the monument in the background and with a digital clock, mobile phone, alarm clock etc. at 13:15. (see example photo) You upload this picture together with your log. This task is voluntary, but I would be very pleased about a photo
