Geocache Description:

This 326 acre park is a really nice place to spend the day. There is a very good trail system - a combination of paved and dirt. The flora and fauna is varied. There is also an elevated boardwalk in the park with several nice views. For the kids it has a really cool playground and a fishing pond. The park opens at 7:00 AM. It closes at 9:00pm in the summer, and 7:00pm in the winter. More information on the park is available at: http://www.co.harris.tx.us/comm_lee/PChallenger7/

Location: N 29° 30.457 W 095° 08.519 UTM: 15R E 292356 N 3266139 The main trails stay dry even after a rain, but the off shoots can get a little muddy. Boots are recommended if it is very wet. The cache is a quart-size container with a screw on lid, and it is covered with camo duct tape to help it blend in. Since the trail has been widened, the cache is only about 25 feet off the trail and can in fact barely be seen from the trail. It is normally on the ground. This area is prone to flooding so care should be taken when putting it back in place. Please take the extra time to make sure the lid is screwed on properly. Please report in your web log if the inside of the cache is wet or damp. Bring bug spray, because this place can bleed you dry. On the other hand, there are many times throughout the year when bugs are not a problem. GPS coverage can be a little bad in areas, but recent thinning of vegetation allows most visitors to keep satellites locked in all the way to the cache. Especially since the trail has been routinely cleared out since early 2009. In July 2005 this cache had more total finds (188) than any other cache in the Houston area. There were about 900 caches in the Houston area at that time! Number 2 on total finds had 167 at that time. Have fun with the cache.
